West Goshen Elementary is a public K-5 school, and as such, there are no admissions requirements for students. Currently in the state of Indiana, all public school operate with open enrollment. All students at West Goshen are part of the Primary Years Program.
West Goshen students with special needs are fully included in the Primary Years Program. Students with identified needs are supported based on their Individual Education Plan (IEP) and services are coordinated through our special education teacher and district special education personnel.
Modifications and supports are made to help students participate in general education classrooms for as much time as possible during the school day. Examples of many of the supports and modifications provided for students can be found in West Goshen’s Language Policy.
In addition, West Goshen has a resource room sometimes used to service small groups or individual students whose needs differ extremely from the general education classroom. This setting is used in accordance with student IEPs and aligns with the student’s Least Restrictive Environment. This space also serves as a recovery option for students with sensory or behavior needs.
