West Goshen engages all students in grades K-5 in Spanish classes. Each class meets for 45 minutes once a week. Because our student population includes many native Spanish speakers, classes are differentiated to meet the needs of all students.
Classes for native Spanish speakers include a focus on developing formal, academic Spanish, including reading and writing in Spanish. For non-native speakers, classes focus on beginning Spanish vocabulary and phrases.
As our Spanish program grows, we will also include some learning about Spanish-speaking countries and cultures. Because our community includes Spanish speakers from many different Central and South American countries, teaching and learning will include developing an awareness of similarities and differences in the language based on country or region of origin.
